exhibited in France last year or had other business travel in Europe,

All French trade show
expenses (trade show exhibition costs, stand rental, stand furnishings etc...)
include the country’s 19.6% VAT (value added tax).VAT paid on most bills is
fully refundable upon proper demand. Refunds can be substantial: $ 1,200 on a $
7,000 trade show booth, and (depending on the country) between $25.00 and
$50.00 per person per night for hotel costs. Similar refunds are available from
the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands.
While the money
rightfully belongs to your company, European governments have put the burden of
reclaiming the VAT on you.

French invoices
eligible for VAT refund include the following:

The U.K. (17.5% VAT),
Germany (16% VAT) and Sweden (25% VAT) grant refunds on all the above and also
on hotels and car rentals. The U.K and Sweden also refund VAT on meals and
gasoline.
