Jean J. Carrier was born in Albertville, Savoie, France in 1961. He holds an engineering degree from Ecole Centrale, Paris and graduate school degrees in General Management and Finance from ESSEC, Paris. Mr. Carrier started his career as a research scientist at Yale University's Research Center for Scientific Computation. He joined Essilor 20 years ago after working several years for a management consulting firm.
Early in his career at Essilor Jean held positions in supply chain in the U.S. and globally. He was General Manager of Essilor Switzerland for several years and was later appointed Vice President of Strategic Marketing for Essilor International.
In 1998 Jean and his family moved back to the United States. Mr. Carrier held successively the positions of Senior Vice President of Marketing, President of the Essilor Laboratories and became President of Essilor of America in January 2007.
Jean represented the employees' shareholding company Valoptec on the Board of Directors of Essilor International from 1994 to 1997. He served on the Prevent Blindness Texas board for several years until 2007.
Jean, his wife Karine and their three sons, Alexandre, Thomas and Rafael live in Dallas.
